Clean cold water

Use clean cold water every day. If you have not used the machine for 1 day,
you have to flush it with clean cold water before you use it again. To flush
the machine, fill the water reservoir with clean cold water, place a bowl or
2 cups under the spout and press the 2-cup button a few times to brew hot
water until the water reservoir is empty.

Fresh coffee pods

Use the SENSEO® coffee pods that have been specially developed for your
SENSEO® coffee machine for a full, round taste.

Clean and descale the Philips SENSEO® coffee machine regularly. For more

Important

Read this user manual carefully before you use the machine and save it for
future reference.

Danger

Never immerse the machine in water or any
other liquid.

Warning

-

Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom
of the machine corresponds to the local
mains voltage before you connect the
machine.

Connect the machine to an earthed wall
socket.

If the mains cord is damaged, you must
have it replaced by Philips, a service center
authorized by Philips or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Do not use the machine if the plug, the mains
cord or the machine itself is damaged.

This machine can be used by children
aged from 8 years and above and by
persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities or lack of experience
and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use
of the machine in a safe way and if they
understand the hazards involved.

Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be
made by children unless they are older than
8 and supervised.

Keep the machine, its accessories and its
cord out of the reach of children aged less
than 8 years.

Children shall not play with the machine.

Caution

-

Always return the machine to a service center
authorized by Philips for examination or
repair. Do not attempt to repair the machine
yourself, otherwise your warranty becomes
invalid.

After unpacking the machine, never put your
SENSEO® machine on its side. Always keep it
in upright position, also during transport.

-

Never put normal ground coffee or use torn
pods in the pod holder, as this causes it to
become blocked.

-

Do not use the machine in combination with
a transformer, as this could cause hazardous
situations.

-

Always put the machine on a flat and stable
surface.

-

Do not place the machine on a hotplate or
directly next to a hot oven, heater or similar
source of heat.

-

Do not place the machine in a cabinet when
in use.

-

Never let the machine operate unattended.

-

Do not use the machine at altitudes higher
than 2200 meters above sea level.

-

Never pour any other liquid than clean cold
water into the water reservoir.

-

Never flush the machine or let it brew coffee
when the spout is not in place.

-

Flush the coffee machine with fresh water
before you use it for the first time. This
causes the system to fill with water, which is
essential for the machine to work properly.

-

Do not use the machine at a temperature
below 0 °C. Water left in the machine may
freeze and cause damage.

-

Do not use the machine in combination with
water softeners based on sodium exchange.

-

Descale your machine regularly. The machine
indicates when descaling is needed. Not
doing this will make your machine stop
working properly. In this case, repair is not
covered by your warranty.

-

Never use a descaling agent based on
mineral acids such as sulphuric acid,
hydrochloric acid, sulphamic acid and acetic
acid (e.g. vinegar). These descaling agents
may damage your coffee machine.

-

The machine is intended for normal
household use only. It is not intended
for use in environments such as staff
kitchens of shops, offices, farms or other
work environments, nor is it intended
to be used by clients in hotels, motels,
bed and breakfasts and other residential
environments.

Compliance with standards

This machine complies with all applicable standards and regulations
regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.
The energy consumption of this machine in off mode is less than 0.5 Watt.
This means that this machine complies with European Directive
2009/125/EC, which sets the ecological design requirements for
energy-using products.

Frost-free storage

If you already used the coffee machine and have therefore already flushed
it with water, you may only use and store it in a frost-free place to prevent it
from becoming damaged.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

The CALC light

flashes.

You have pressed the 1-cup button and the 2-cup

button at the same time. This started the descaling

cycle. If you did not intend to start the descaling

cycle, simply press the on/off button to switch off the

machine. If you did intend to start the descaling cycle,

do not interrupt this cycle but let the machine operate

until the water reservoir is empty.

The CALC

light lights up

continuously after

descaling.

The descaling procedure has not been completed.

Perform the descaling procedure. Do not switch off

the machine during descaling.

Water continued

to flow from the

spout when I used

the machine for

the first time.

The machine was performing the flushing cycle. You

have to place a bowl of 1.5 liters under the spout.

The light ring

around the on/off

button continues

to flash rapidly.

Make sure that there is enough water in the water

reservoir and that the water reservoir is placed

properly.

There is not enough water in the water reservoir (i.e.

above the MIN level if you want to brew 1 cup).

Check if the float in the water reservoir is stuck. Empty

the water reservoir and shake it a few times to release

the float. Clean the water reservoir with hot water and

some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher.

I cannot open the

lid.

A temporary vacuum has developed under the lid.

Switch off the coffee machine. Pull up the lever and

wait 24 hours before you open the lid. You may need

to use some force. Always make sure the pod holders

are clean and the sieve is not clogged to prevent a

vacuum.

The coffee

machine produces

less coffee than

before.

For Intensity Select models only: You may have

pressed the 1-cup or 2-cup button twice. If you do so,

the machine brews a short strong coffee.

Check the pod holder. If the sieve is clogged, use a

washing-up brush to unclog the sieve. If you cannot

clean it properly with the washing-up brush, put the

pod holder in the machine and descale the machine

(see 'CALC').

Descale the machine (see 'CALC').

Water leaks from

the machine.

Make sure that you do not overfill the water reservoir.

Check that you place the water reservoir on the

machine correctly.

Check the pod holder. If the sieve is clogged, use a

washing-up brush to unclog the sieve. If you cannot

clean it properly with the washing-up brush, put the

pod holder in the machine and descale the machine

(see 'CALC').

Make sure that the coffee pod has been put properly

in the center of the pod holder.

In all other cases, contact the Philips Consumer Care

Center in your country.

I cannot close the

lid properly.

Check if a used coffee pod is sticking to the water

distribution disk. If this is the case, remove the used

pod.

Check if you used the correct pod holder. Use 2 pods

in combination with the deeper 2-cup pod holder.

The machine

makes a different

sound during

brewing (HD6567,

HD6566, HD6564

only).

This machine has Duo Select and the different sound

is caused by a new way of brewing. You can use the

Duo Select switch to switch between your familiar

smooth SENSEO® coffee and a fuller SENSEO®

coffee. This Duo Select switch uses different water

pressures to brew coffee, which causes a difference

in sound.

The SENSEO®

coffee is not

strong enough.

For Intensity Select models only: If you want stronger

coffee, press the 1-cup or 2-cup button twice to brew

a short strong coffee.

Make sure that you place the coffee pod(s) properly

in the center of the pod holder and ensure the coffee

in the pod is evenly distributed.

If you prefer a more robust flavor, SENSEO® coffee

pods with a stronger blend are available.

The SENSEO®

coffee is too

strong.

For Intensity Select models only: You may have

pressed the 1-cup or 2-cup button twice. If you do so,

the machine brews a short strong coffee.

If you prefer a milder flavor, SENSEO® coffee pods

with a milder blend are available.

The coffee is not

hot enough.

Preheat your cup by brewing one cup without a

coffee pod.

Descale the machine.

The coffee

appears to have a

different taste.

If your machine has a Duo Select switch, turn the Duo

Select switch to the left for the familiar smooth taste

or turn the switch to the right for a fuller taste.

You have not placed the pod correctly. Place the pod

in the center of the pod holder with the convex side

pointing downwards. Make sure that the coffee in the

pod is distributed evenly and press the pod lightly

into the pod holder.

The machine has

been stored in a

room that was not

frost-free.

Contact the Philips Consumer Care Center in your

country.

The appliance

switches off

automatically

after 5 minutes.

The SENSEO® eco version HD6562, switches off

automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity to save

energy.

Flush before first use

Flush the machine before first use. After the flushing cycle (which only takes
approx. 2 minutes), the machine is ready for brewing coffee.

Duo Select (HD6567, HD6566, HD6564 only)

The Duo Select feature offers you two different ways to brew SENSEO®
coffee. Turn the Duo Select switch to the left to brew your familiar smooth
SENSEO® coffee. Turn the Duo Select switch to the right to extract more
coffee flavors out of the same coffee pod, thanks to the unique brewing
intervals. For an even fuller SENSEO® coffee taste. Hear and taste the
difference!

Intensity Select (all except HD6561)

It is possible to brew even shorter stronger cups of coffee by double pressing
the 1-cup or 2-cup button.

Special coffees

To brew a special coffee, place a cappuccino pod, a hot chocolate pod
or another special coffee pod in the 2-cup pod holder and press the
1-cup button.

CALC

2x descaling, 2x flushing

Descale the machine when the CALC light goes on. Use liquid SENSEO®
descaler only. The descaling procedure consists of two descaling cycles and
two flushing cycles. Each cycle lasts 5 minutes. For each descaling cycle,
you have to pour half a bottle of descaling liquid into the water reservoir
and fill it up with fresh water. Use the 1-cup pod holder with a used pod or
the thin descaling filter during the first descaling cycle and use the 2-cup
pod holder with a used pod or the thick descaling filter during the second
descaling cycle. Do not interrupt the descaling cycles and do not switch off
the machine before you have performed the two flushing cycles. The CALC
light continues to flash until the descaling procedure is completed correctly.
Throw used pods or descaling filters away after use. For more information on

Automatic shut-off

The appliance switches off automatically after 30 minutes. The SENSEO®
eco version HD6562, switches off automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity
to save energy.

Verwenden Sie täglich sauberes kaltes Wasser. War die Maschine über 1 Tag
nicht in Gebrauch, lassen Sie vor dem nächsten Aufbrühen sauberes kaltes
Wasser durchlaufen. Um die Maschine durchzuspülen, füllen Sie den
Wassertank mit sauberem kaltem Wasser, stellen Sie eine Schüssel oder
zwei Tassen unter den Auslauf, und drücken Sie mehrmals die 2-Tassen-
Taste, damit heißes Wasser durchläuft, bis der Wassertank leer ist.

Frische Kaffeepads

Verwenden Sie die speziell für Ihre SENSEO® Kaffeemaschine entwickelten
SENSEO® Kaffeepads für ein weiches, volles Aroma.

Ein sauberes Gerät

Reinigen und entkalken Sie die Philips SENSEO® Kaffeemaschine

Legen Sie die SENSEO® Maschine nach dem
Auspacken nie auf der Seite ab. Halten Sie
sie stets aufrecht, auch beim Transport.

-

Verwenden Sie keinesfalls normalen
gemahlenen Kaffee oder beschädigte Pads
im Padhalter, da dies das Gerät verstopfen
würde.

-

Aus Sicherheitsgründen darf das Gerät nicht
mit einem Transformator betrieben werden.

-

Stellen Sie die Maschine auf eine ebene und
stabile Fläche.

-

Stellen Sie die Maschine nicht auf eine
Warmhalteplatte, direkt neben einen heißen
Ofen, eine Heizung oder eine ähnliche
Wärmequelle.

-

Die Maschine darf während der Benutzung
nicht in einem Schrank platziert werden.

-

Lassen Sie das eingeschaltete Gerät niemals
unbeaufsichtigt.

-

Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in Höhenlagen
von über 2200 m.

-

Füllen Sie niemals eine andere Flüssigkeit als
sauberes kaltes Wasser in den Wassertank.

-

Spülen Sie die Maschine nicht durch, und

bereiten Sie keinen Kaffee zu, solange der
Kaffeeauslauf nicht eingesetzt ist.

Spülen Sie die Kaffeemaschine mit frischem
Wasser durch, bevor Sie sie das erste Mal
verwenden. Dabei füllt sich das System mit
Wasser. Dies ist für den ordnungsgemäßen
Betrieb der Maschine entscheidend.

Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht bei
Temperaturen unter 0 °C. In der Maschine
verbleibendes Wasser kann gefrieren und
Schäden verursachen.

-

Verwenden Sie in Verbindung mit Ihrer
Kaffeemaschine keine natriumhaltigen
Wasserenthärtungsmittel.

-

Entkalken Sie Ihre Maschine regelmäßig. Die
Maschine zeigt an, wenn sie entkalkt werden
muss. Wenn Sie dies ignorieren, funktioniert
die Maschine nicht mehr richtig. In diesem
Fall ist die Reparatur von der Garantie
ausgeschlossen.

-

Verwenden Sie keine Entkalker auf
Basis von Mineralsäuren, beispielsweise
Schwefel-, Salz-, Sulfamin- oder Essigsäure
(z. B. Essig). Diese Entkalker könnten Ihre
Kaffeepadmaschine beschädigen.

-

Die Maschine ist nur für den normalen
Hausgebrauch bestimmt. Sie ist nicht für
die Verwendung in Umgebungen wie z. B.
Personalküchen in Geschäften, Büros,
landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben oder
anderen Arbeitsumgebungen vorgesehen.
Ebenso ist sie nicht für die Nutzung durch
Kunden in Hotels, Motels, Unterkünften
mit Frühstücksangebot oder anderen
Unterkünften bestimmt.

Einhaltung von Normen

Diese Maschine erfüllt sämtliche Normen und Vorschriften bezüglich
Gefährdung durch elektromagnetischen Felder.
Der Energieverbrauch dieser Maschine im ausgeschalteten Modus beträgt
weniger als 0,5 Watt. Das bedeutet, dass diese Maschine der EU-Richtlinie
2009/125/EC entspricht, die die ökologischen Designanforderungen für
energieverbrauchende Produkte regelt.

Frostfreie Aufbewahrung

Fehlerbehebung

Die CALC-Anzeige

blinkt.

Sie haben gleichzeitig die 1-Tasse-Taste und

die 2-Tassen-Taste gedrückt. Dadurch wurde

der Entkalkungsvorgang gestartet. Wenn Sie

den Entkalkungsvorgang nicht starten möchten,

drücken Sie einfach den Ein-/Ausschalter, um die

Maschine auszuschalten. Wenn Sie vorhatten, den

Entkalkungsvorgang zu starten, unterbrechen Sie

diesen Vorgang nicht, sondern warten Sie, bis die

Maschine den Wasserbehälter geleert hat.

Der Entkalkungsvorgang wurde nicht beendet. Führen

Sie den Entkalkungsvorgang durch. Schalten Sie das

Die Maschine war dabei, den Durchspülvorgang

durchzuführen. Sie müssen eine Schale mit einem

Fassungsvermögen von 1,5 Liter unter den Auslauf

stellen.

Vergewissern Sie sich, dass der Wassertank genügend

Wasser enthält und der Wassertank ordnungsgemäß

eingesetzt ist.

Es ist nicht genügend Wasser im Wasserbehälter

vorhanden (d. h. über die MIN-Markierung hinaus,

wenn Sie 1 Tasse Kaffee zubereiten möchten).

Überprüfen Sie, ob der Schwimmer im

Wasserbehälter eingeklemmt ist. Entleeren Sie

den Wasserbehälter, und schütteln Sie ihn einige

Male, um den Schwimmer zu lösen. Reinigen Sie

den Wasserbehälter mit heißem Wasser und etwas

Spülmittel oder in der Spülmaschine.

Ich kann den

Deckel nicht

öffnen.

Unter dem Deckel hat sich ein Vakuum gebildet.

Schalten Sie die Kaffeemaschine aus. Ziehen Sie den

Hebel nach oben, und warten Sie 24 Stunden, bevor

Sie den Deckel öffnen. Möglicherweise müssen Sie

etwas Kraft aufwenden. Vergewissern Sie sich immer,

dass die Padhalter sauber sind und das Sieb nicht

verstopft ist, um ein Vakuum zu verhindern.

Das Gerät

Nur für Modelle mit Intensitätsauswahl:

Möglicherweise haben Sie die 1-Tasse- oder die

2-Tassen-Taste zweimal gedrückt. Wenn Sie dies

tun, bereitet die Maschine einen starken Kaffee mit

weniger Wasser.

Überprüfen Sie den Padhalter. Wenn das Sieb

verstopft ist, reinigen Sie es mit einer Spülbürste.

Wenn Sie es mit der Spülbürste nicht ordnungsgemäß

reinigen können, setzen Sie den Padhalter in

die Maschine, und entkalken Sie diese (siehe

"Entkalken").

Entkalken Sie das Gerät (siehe "Entkalken").

Wasser tropft aus

der Maschine.

Achten Sie darauf, nicht zu viel Wasser in den

Wasserbehälter zu füllen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der

Wasserbehälter ordnungsgemäß in die Maschine

eingesetzt wurde.

Überprüfen Sie den Padhalter. Wenn das Sieb

verstopft ist, reinigen Sie es mit einer Spülbürste.

Wenn Sie es mit der Spülbürste nicht ordnungsgemäß

reinigen können, setzen Sie den Padhalter in

die Maschine, und entkalken Sie diese (siehe

"Entkalken").

Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Kaffeepad richtig in der

Mitte des Padhalters liegt.
